Automatic Self Cleaning Basket Strainer for Raw Water Treatment Factory

An automatic self-cleaning basket strainer is a device commonly used in raw water treatment factories to remove solid particles and debris from the water. It is designed to maintain a continuous flow of water by periodically cleaning itself without the need for manual intervention.

Here's how an automatic self-cleaning basket strainer typically works:

Filtration Process: Raw water from the source is directed into the basket strainer. The water passes through a perforated or mesh basket, which acts as the primary filter element. The basket is designed to capture and retain solid particles such as sediment, debris, and larger contaminants.

Accumulation of Debris: As water flows through the basket, solid particles gradually accumulate on the surface or within the openings of the basket. Over time, this accumulation can restrict the flow of water, affecting the efficiency of the system.

Differential Pressure Sensing: The strainer is equipped with a differential pressure sensor that monitors the pressure drop across the basket. When the pressure drop reaches a predetermined threshold, it indicates that the basket needs to be cleaned.

Cleaning Cycle Initiation: Upon detecting the excessive pressure drop, the self-cleaning mechanism is triggered. The cleaning cycle can be initiated by various methods, depending on the design of the strainer. Common methods include a motorized drive, hydraulic pressure, or pneumatic actuation.

Backwash or Purging: Once the cleaning cycle starts, the strainer reverses the flow of water or introduces a purge fluid to dislodge and remove the accumulated debris from the basket. The backwash or purging process typically involves a rapid increase in flow rate or the introduction of a cleaning fluid to flush out the contaminants.

Debris Disposal: The dislodged debris is then flushed out of the strainer, usually through a separate drain or discharge pipe. Some systems may use a collector or receptacle to capture and contain the removed debris for easy disposal or further treatment.

Resumption of Filtration: After the cleaning cycle is completed, the flow of water returns to its normal direction, and the strainer continues to filter the raw water. This process ensures a continuous and uninterrupted flow of treated water.

Automatic self-cleaning basket strainers are advantageous in raw water treatment factories as they reduce the frequency of manual maintenance, minimize downtime, and ensure consistent filtration efficiency. The specific design and operational details may vary depending on the manufacturer and application requirements.
